We’ve answered common questions below; if you can’t find an answer to your question, get in touch.

Do we do everything in house?

Yes, 100%. We don’t take on projects that we can’t deliver via our own team. We don’t use freelancers or off-shore work; it’s all done by our own expert team.

Do we only work with WordPress?

Yes, we only develop bespoke websites on the WordPress CMS. We create websites with the self-hosted WP platform, so we don’t build WordPress.com sites either.

What do we charge?

We don’t have a fixed ‘price list’ for the sites we build; we evaluate each project based on who is commissioning it, the budget, site size, functional requirements and so on.

Do we work with smaller businesses?

We work with anyone who wants to get more from their WordPress site with a custom build. We’ve developed sites for sole traders and multinationals, so if you want the best for your site, we can work with you.

How long does it take?

Smaller sites can be ready in as little as 8–12 weeks. Large sites often require several months of design, development, and content population. Content always takes the most time on a project, so the more you have, the longer it will take.

Do I own the final site and all the code?

Once our bills are paid, the site, code, and everything else are yours. We don’t retain ownership of the code. We have a straightforward rule: You cannot resell or reuse our theme on a different domain.

Do I need to buy plugin licenses?

If we host the new site for you, no. You can use all the plugins FOC while you are a hosting customer or a support client. Should you move the site away from us, you’ll need to get your own licenses for the plugins.

What costs can I expect post-live?

We build our sites so you can manage 99% of the content yourself without needing to call us or bring a developer in. From the logo to menus and even the footer contents; everything is manageable by you (once we’ve given you basic training).

Do you provide post-live support if I need it?

Yes, we have affordable support plans and offer ad-hoc support for all sites. You can get yourself a monthly support retainer from £40 per month + VAT.

How many people work at Toast?

We’ve 17 staff. 13 full-time and four part-time. All the team work on different aspects of our bespoke WordPress projects, so we have designers, developers, SEO and content people who get involved at the appropriate stage of the project.

Do you do SEO?

We have that covered too. From the initial optimisation of your site before it goes live to post-live SEO, including on- and off-page, additional technical optimisation, content production and selected social.

Do you provide hosting?

We host a lot of our clients’ websites, providing a fully managed and monitored service. Hosting starts from £35 per month + VAT. Charges depend on the unique requirements of each site.

Why not just use Elementor or Divi et al.?

If you want a slow, clunky site with a UI that takes forever to work out, go for it. We specialise in building sites that do what you need in the simplest way possible. Theme frameworks and page-builders are best left to the hobbyists.

Aren’t all WordPress sites the same?

WordPress is famously easy to get wrong. Unfortunately, there’s no regulation in our industry, and anyone can set up as a WordPress developer, learn how to use a clunky, off-the-shelf theme and deliver cheap, ineffective sites. No, they are not all the same.

Do you offer any guarantees?

We guarantee that if you follow our guidance pre- and post-project, you will get a site that gets green lights in all tests (Google Page Speed etc), is optimised for SEO, easy to use and will serve you for years to come.
