What did Beyond Business Finance need?
Beyond Business Finance is a specialist finance consultancy helping businesses access funding. They needed a proper website – not a holding page.
The business had been operating on an early placeholder site. It was not doing anything wrong, because it was not really doing anything at all. For a consultancy whose credibility is central to winning clients, that is a problem.
The brief, delivered in partnership with Curious Cat Digital who handled the design and brand, was straightforward: build a professional, fully featured website that explains what Beyond Business Finance does, supports the buyer journey, and gives the business a platform it can actually grow from.
Designs, copy and brand assets were supplied. Our job was to build it properly.
What the site needed to do:
- Replace a holding page with a fully featured professional website
- Clearly explain a specialist service to a business audience that needs to trust before it enquires
- Support a logical buyer journey from landing to enquiry
- Translate supplied designs into a pixel-accurate, fully functioning WordPress build
- Give the client a platform they could manage and grow without technical support

Site structure
- 14 to 18 pages covering core, service, industry and resource hub sections
- Structured to move visitors from awareness to enquiry with as little friction as possible

WordPress build
Bespoke build on our own custom starter theme. Purpose-built ACF content blocks give the client full control over pages, service content and resource hub articles without needing to call anyone.
Default Gutenberg blocks were disabled entirely – every page is built using the same controlled set of layouts, which keeps the site consistent and on-brand however many people are updating it.
Lead generation
Enquiry forms integrated throughout, with clear calls to action positioned across key pages. The site is not just informational – it is built to convert visitors into leads and give the business development function a tool that actually works.
Every page has a logical next step, so visitors are never left to find their own way out.

Technical details
WordPress theme
Built on our own bare-bones WordPress starter theme. No inherited styles, no third-party framework dependencies, no bloat. Before any design work goes in, we run the blank theme through Google PageSpeed Insights and aim for 100 out of 100 on both mobile and desktop. That discipline is what makes the performance scores possible.
Plugins
We keep third-party plugins to a minimum. This site uses ACF-powered content blocks edited in the Gutenberg editor. The default WordPress block library was disabled entirely – editors can only use the purpose-built blocks we created, which means every page is built consistently and on-brand regardless of who published it.
SEO foundations
Logical page structure, clean markup and proper meta data configuration built in throughout – not added afterwards. The site was handed over ready for search visibility work from day one.
Responsive build
Every template built and tested across desktop, tablet and mobile. For a financial services business whose clients are often researching on the move, a site that works properly on a phone is not optional.
WordPress makes a great platform for marketing-focused businesses.
Financial services businesses have a credibility problem online. Their website either solves it or makes it worse.
A finance consultancy asking businesses to trust them with funding decisions needs a website that looks and works like a serious operation. Holding pages, slow-loading templates and off-the-shelf designs do the opposite of that.
WordPress gave us the control to build exactly what Curious Cat Digital had designed – without compromise, without workarounds, without the limitations you hit with drag-and-drop platforms when the design gets even slightly complex.
The resource hub alone is a good example. On Squarespace or Webflow that is a blog with limited filtering. On WordPress it is a proper content architecture – structured, extensible, and built to serve both the visitor and the search engine. That distinction matters when content is going to be one of the business’s main growth levers.
Beyond Business Finance launched with a site that does what a financial services business needs its website to do. That is the starting point. Everything else builds from here.
