Using Brevo to deliver email.

Ensuring you receive important emails and forms from your site.

Your website and email are separate things, often hosted in separate places.

When you host a website, the server sends emails from your site (form submissions, password resets, etc.).

This means the server sends email from your domain (or the domain set in the control panel).

Deliverability issues can arse based on several factors:

  1. The domain you are using for sending the email
  2. The settings in WordPress
  3. The server settings
  4. Server using its own third-party email sender
  5. Your DNS settings
  6. Your email provider

If your site is hosted on domain-name.com, you should avoid trying to send emails from another-domain-name.com.

If your admin email address differs from the website domain, this can also cause issues.

If your server is not configured to send email, this is another problem; it just won’t send.

Your DNS records must be set correctly to allow the server to send email as your domain.

Your email provider may mark emails that it receives from your site as spam or not deliver them at all.

This is where Brevo comes in.

Brevo is a third-party email delivery tool that we can add to your site to ensure the delivery of your important emails.

  • We recommend it for every website, and it’s free for up to 300 emails per day.
  • We will add a plugin to your site to configure email sending via Brevo.
  • We’ll then need to add, or you will need to add, some records to your DNS to authenticate Brevo so that it can send emails.

Why bother?

The most common issues with email from websites are:

  1. The server does send the email, but you don’t receive it
  2. You do receive the email, but they are always marked as spam

Brevo removes these issues and ensures that all email comes through to your inbox as it should.
